Astronomy Club Leadership and Outreach

My four years in the West Virginia University Astronomy Club culminated in serving as club president and coordinating a broad programme of observing and public-engagement activities.

Overview

I spent my first three years as a member and my fourth year as president. In that role, I helped plan bi-weekly meetings, telescope and stargazing nights, public-outreach events, and presentations.

The experience strengthened my ability to explain scientific ideas to audiences with different backgrounds. It also developed practical observing skills: navigating the night sky, operating several kinds of telescope, and using West Virginia University’s 14-inch Celestron telescope to locate interesting targets.

Image collection

The collection includes photographs taken through telescopes with an iPhone as well as images made with a Nikon Z50 mirrorless camera.
