Imaging the Orion Nebula

The final observational-astronomy project used the White Hall Telescope to image the Orion Nebula and turn the raw observations into a calibrated astronomical image.

Overview

The observations were calibrated to reduce instrumental noise and improve the clarity of the detected nebular structure. The report considered the main noise sources that affect optical observations and compared the information visible across different wavelengths.

The final image demonstrated how effectively visible-light observations trace bright gas in the Orion Nebula.
